Patrick Wagler

patrickPatrick Wagler is a chemist working in the area of microsystem technology. He received his PhD in the area of catalytic chemistry at theLeibniz Institute for CatalysisRostock. After gaining experience in developing microsystems for medical technology at theInstitute for Microtechnology in Mainz(IMM) he became head of the group"Evolutionary Microsystems"at the Fraunhofer research group BioMIP from 2000-2004.Currently heleads the microsystem activities atBioMIPand serves as an invited guest lecturer in nanobiotechnology course atCiven(Coordinamento Interuniversitario Veneto per le Nanotecnologie) since 2004.

He was a leading figure in microsystem development for theEuropean Integrated Project PACE andECCell. His specific research competence is in the design and fabrication of evolvable microfluidic systems for biomolecular processing and reconfigurable multi-layer-microreactors with a focus on biochemical applications. He is co-founder of the spin-off companyprotostream GmbHand a member of theGerman Society of Chemists(GdCh) and theInternational Society for Optical Engineering(SPIE).
